SOVIET
BUS STOPS
IN GEORGIA

The diverse geography and landscape of Georgia had a significant impact on the architectural design of the Soviet Bus Stops. These small but very functional architectural spaces designed to provide shelter from the weather can be found in every part of Georgia and take many different shapes and forms.
But they also represent a kind of freedom as Georgian architects experimented with interesting designs and decorations to produce a very Georgian take on a simple public utility that was free of Soviet restrictions and expressed their ideas and sense of style. They are heritage pieces as they provide some of the most important examples of Georgian architecture from the Soviet period.
